Le Mali vient de perdre un de ses leaders les mieux écoutés ces derniers temps. Ancien chef de la junte militaire, c’est le 19 novembre 1968 que le lieutenant Moussa Traoré a mis un terme un régime de Modibo Keita, le premier président du Mali. Ensuite, s’en suivront des années de pouvoirs absolus auxquelles seul un coup d’état militaire mettre un terme le 26 mars 1991. Ce jour-là, à la tête de jeune officier, le lieutenant colonel Amadou Toumani Touré -ATT- finira par avoir raison de son règne. Emprisonné sous divers chefs d’accusation, c’est le président Alpha Oumar Konaré qui a commue sa peine en prison à vie le 21 septembre 1999. Puis, en mai 2002, le gracie finalement.

Depuis cette date, il est resté loin du palais de Koulouba. Ce n’est que tout dernièrement que les militaires devenus nouveaux maîtres de Bamako l’ont sorti de sa tanière.
