À l’occasion de la Journée mondiale de lutte contre le paludisme, le programme national de la lutte contre le paludisme au Sénégal (PNLP) et ses partenaires se sont réunis ce lundi 25 Avril 2022 au Sneips pour faire une évaluation de la maladie.
Le thème retenu pour l’édition 2022 est : « Innover pour réduire la charge du paludisme et sauver des vies », en partant du principe que chaque cas de paludisme est évitable et que chaque décès lié au paludisme est inacceptable.
Concernant le Sénégal, le rapport révèle qu’en 2021 les cas ont augmenté passant de 536.850 contre 445.313 en 2020. Les femmes enceintes et les personnes ayant un accès limité aux soins de santé sont les plus vulnérables et les plus touchées par la maladie. Plus de 23% de la population, enregistre 90% des cas de paludisme, 64% des cas graves, 58% des décès tous âges et 80% de décès chez les moins de 5 ans. Des chiffres inquiétants de la propension de la maladie au Sénégal.
Selon le rapport 2021 de l’Oms, on a noté une augmentation du nombre de cas passant de 227 millions en 2019 contre 241 millions en 2020 dans les pays de la région Est Afrique de l’Oms où plus 80% des cas recensés se trouvent en Afrique.
Malgré les efforts consentis par l’État du Sénégal et ses partenaires, le paludisme demeure encore une menace réelle dans beaucoup de localités telles que Kédougou, Tamba et Kolda, qui portent encore l’essentiel de la charge du paludisme.
Dans le but d’améliorer le bien-être des enfants, plus particulièrement les plus vulnérables, le Sénégal s’est engagé à réduire le paludisme. En 2021 près de 1.342.541 MILDA ont été distribuées à travers plusieurs canaux contre 581.648 en 2020. Et toujours sur les améliorations, sur 562.964 femmes enceintes vues en consultation prénatales, 64% ont reçu une MILDA gratuitement dans les régions de Fatick, Kaffrine, Kédougou, Tamba, Thiès et Ziguinchor.
En vue de remédier à cette situation, il faut faire encore plus d’efforts pour venir en aide aux populations à risque. Le PNLP voulant impliquer tous les segments de la société, les Badianous Gokh, les acteurs communautaires entre autres pour ensemble lutter contre le paludisme…
