Le CDEPS appelle les acteurs de la presse et les citoyens à se mobiliser pour défendre la liberté de presse.

Dans un communiqué, le Conseil des Éditeurs et Diffuseurs de Presse du Sénégal (CDEPS) a condamné le saccage des locaux du journal « Les Echos » ce lundi 3 Août par des énergumènes qui n’ont pas été identifiés. Le préjudice pourrait s’élever à plusieurs dizaines de millions. Heureusement, aucun dommage physique n’a été déploré pour le vigile, seul présent à la rédaction.

Les auteurs de cette barbarie prétextent de la publication, par le quotidien LES ÉCHOS, de l’hospitalisation pour cause de COVID-19 du responsable moral des Moustarchidines Wal Moustarchidaty, Serigne Moustapha Sy. Le journal, qui n’a fait que relater l’information, a même souhaité un prompt rétablissement à Serigne Moustapha Sy.

Le Conseil des Éditeurs et Diffuseurs de Presse du Sénégal (CDEPS) condamne avec fermeté cette agression ignoble et exprime toute sa solidarité au journal LES ÉCHOS, à ses travailleurs et à sa direction.
À chaque fois qu’il y a agression contre les journalistes, les auteurs de ces barbaries refusent en fait à la presse le droit d’informer. La presse est intimidée pour ne pas exercer sa liberté d’informer. C’est là une menace récurrente et permanente pour la liberté de presse.

C’est la énième agression contre les journalistes après la station RFM de Mbacké, le Directeur de publication de Waa Grand-Place, la 7TV… Aucun des agresseurs n’a jamais été pris et il règne une sorte d’impunité d’auteurs de violences contre les journalistes et les maisons de presse. Les forces de sécurité sont restées muettes sur les auteurs de ces agressions contre la liberté de presse. Aucun des forfaits commis contre la liberté de presse n’a aussi fait l’objet de poursuites devant les tribunaux.

L’État a le devoir de protéger les journalistes et les maisons de presse. Le CDEPS en appelle encore au ministre de l’Intérieur, au Gouvernement et au Président de la République pour la protection des journalistes.

La seule condamnation de ces actes ignobles ne suffit plus. Tous les acteurs de la presse et les citoyens doivent se mobiliser pour défendre la liberté de presse menacée au Sénégal.

  1. I think everything said made a lot of sense. But, think on this, suppose you wrote a catchier post title? I ain’t suggesting your information isn’t solid, however what if you added something that grabbed people’s attention? I mean BLOG_TITLE is kinda plain. You should peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create post headlines to get people to open the links. You might add a related video or a related picture or two to get readers excited about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your website a little livelier.|
