Pout Dagné: Tollé Après Le Refus D’Enterrer Une Griotte Dans Le Cimetière Du Village

Plusieurs organisations des droits de l’Homme s’indignent au Sénégal après l’interdiction, par un chef de village, d’enterrer une femme issue de la caste des griots dans le cimetière de la localité. L’incident s’est passé le 25 décembre, à Pout Dagné, dans la région de Thiès. Une « discrimination » inacceptable pour Sadikh Niass, secrétaire général de la Rencontre africaine pour la défense des droits de l’Homme.

Le refus d’enterrer une griotte dans un cimetière de Pout Dagné, au Sénégal, le 25 décembre n’est pas isolé, d’après la Rencontre africaine pour la défense des droits de l’Homme (RADDHO), la Ligue sénégalaise des droits humains, AfrikaJom Center et Amnesty International Sénégal. Ces quatre associations soulignent qu’un fait similaire s’était déroulé dans le même village en 2019, et qu’il était « resté sans conséquences de la part des autorités étatiques ».

Sadikh Niass, secrétaire général de la RADDHO, estime qu’« on ne peut pas accepter que, dans un village, on puisse interdire à des habitants d’enterrer leurs morts ». « Il y a ceux qui se font appeler les  »griots » et il y a les autres, les  »nobles ». Et il se dit que les  »griots » ne peuvent pas enterrer leurs morts à côté des  »nobles » car cela pourrait provoquer le malheur dans le village. Ce sont des croyances qui ne sont pas de notre temps », affirme-t-il au micro de Charlotte Idrac.

« Nous lançons un appel aux autorités pour que force reste à la loi. Pour qu’elles se mettent du côté des victimes, et non pas du côté de ceux qui veulent opprimer toute une communauté et leur demander d’enterrer leurs morts à dix kilomètres de la localité. Les édiles religieux ont aussi leur mot à dire, pour affirmer que cela n’a rien à voir avec la culture islamique ou chrétienne. On ne peut pas accepter encore, au XXIe siècle, ces formes de discriminations, ces genres de pratiques d’une autre époque », ajoute Sadikh Niass
