Les manifestations des mois de février et mars derniers ont créé des moments troubles qui ont fortement ébranlé la paix sociale. Et, sur l’initiative du M2D, une journée de prières, à la mémoire des martyrs de la démocratie, est prévue à Bignona, ce samedi 22 mai. Une étape pour lancer un appel à tous les acteurs de l’espace public à préserver la paix et la stabilité sociale et politique du Sénégal.
Les manifs ont enregistré treize morts et causé des blessures graves à près de 600 personnes. “Ces jeunes martyrs de la démocratie, partis à la fleur de l’âge, avaient entre 12 et 35 ans. Ils ont perdu brutalement la vie pour avoir revendiqué pacifiquement leur droit, garanti par la Constitution, de résister à l’arbitraire et à l’oppression”, lit-on dans le communiqué du M2D.
“Pour honorer leur mémoire et garder leur souvenir, le M2D organise une cérémonie de prières et de recueillement le samedi 22 mai 2021 à partir de 9h à Bignona. Des représentants de toutes les communautés religieuses du pays, des obédiences politiques – les partis de l’opposition comme de la mouvance présidentielle -, des organisations de la société civile et des mouvements citoyens y sont invités, a poursuivi le communiqué.
Bignona a non seulement payé le plus lourd tribut lors des manifestations, mais elle est aussi l’un des symboles marquants de la crise qui endeuille le Sénégal depuis plus de 40 ans. Occasion également de lancer, pour les initiateurs, un appel à tous les acteurs de l’espace public à préserver la paix et la stabilité sociale et politique du Sénégal.
Ainsi, il s’agira pour le M2D d’engager les acteurs politiques, les mouvements citoyens et associations de la société civile, à sceller un pacte, celui de Bignona, pour bannir de l’espace politique toute idée, tout discours, tout acte et toute pratique tendant à manipuler les identités religieuses, ethniques et communautaires à des fins politiciennes.
Après Bignona, le M2D organisera des rencontres similaires dans toutes les régions avec une première étape programmée dans le Fouta.
