Le Nigéria continue de vivre au rythme des rapts d’enfants. Le gouvernement a annoncé lundi la disparition de dizaines d’écoliers dans le centre du pays.
Quelque 200 enfants se trouvaient dans l’école de l’État du Niger, a indiqué le gouvernement local sur Twitter, ajoutant qu’un « nombre non confirmé » d’enfants étaient portés disparus.
L’enlèvement a eu lieu un jour après la libération de 14 étudiants d’une université du nord-ouest du Nigeria après 40 jours de captivité, dans le cadre d’une série d’attaques visant des collèges et des écoles depuis plusieurs années.
Multiplication des enlèvements
En 2018, 111 écolières avaient été enlevées par des djihadistes à Dapchi. Sept ans plus tôt, les extrémistes de Boko Haram avaient déjà choqué le monde en enlevant 276 filles à Chibok.
Ces actions ont pris une nouvelle ampleur depuis décembre dernier obligeant certains États du nord à fermer les écoles publiques.
Le 11 décembre 2020, plus de 300 garçons ont été enlevés dans la ville de Kankara, dans l’État de Katsina. En février, 300 filles ont été portées disparues dans le nord-ouest de l’État de Zamfara.
