La journée nationale de l’arbre s’est tenue ce dimanche 9 août à Diamnadio. Le thème retenu cette année est : “La reforestation, un remède contre la pandémie”. Le président Macky Sall, qui a présidé cette 37è édition, indique que désormais l’autorisation de construire sera adossée à l’obligation de planter des arbres.
A cette occasion, le Chef de l’Etat a symboliquement planté un baobab dont le nom scientifique est l’adansonia digitata, “arbre parrain de cette 37ème édition”. Un choix largement salué par le président de l’association “Les amis du baobab”. “L’environnement et sa préservation doivent rester au cœur de nos préoccupations et de celles des générations futures…”, déclare Jean-Michel Seck.
D’autres associations comme Agir pour le développement et l’environnement (ADEN) dirigée par Fodé Sylla, ambitionne pour sa part d’organiser cette année, à Tambacounda (est), le premier Festival international du baobab. Un événement culturel, social et économique par lequel ses promoteurs comptent redonner au baobab toute la place qu’il faut au sein de la société sénégalaise.
Une occasion, pour le chef de l’Etat, d’inviter les Sénégalais à s’approprier la journée pour reboiser et lutter contre la déforestation.
