Le Sénégal a obtenu son meilleur classement de son histoire. Vainqueurs de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations, les Lions se pointent à la 18e place mondiale. En Afrique, ils restent évidement leader.

Les protégés d’Aliou Cissé ont empoché 6,67 points de plus pour gagner aussi deux places au classement et devenir 18e mondial avec un total de points égal à 1 587,86
