Selon un décompte décompte basé sur 155 des 156 districts, le leader de l’opposition Hakainde Hichilema a emporté l’élection présidentielle avec plus d’un million de voix d’écart (2,8 millions contre 1,8 pour le président sortant Edgar Lungu). Dans un discours diffusé à la radio, le président sortant a reconnu sa défaite et félicité son adversaire. «Je veux féliciter mon frère, Hakainde Hichilema, président-élu, qui devient le septième président de la république», a-t-il précisé
