En prélude des élections locales prévues en 2022, les militants du Pastef Ziguinchor se sont réunis le dimanche 29 aout pour designer leur candidat pour la mairie de Ziguinchor.
Ainsi, un communiqué rendu public sur la page Facebook de PASTEF Ziguinchor, visité par Xibaaru, une motion portant la candidature du Président du parti patriotes de Sénégal pour le travail, l’éthique et la fraternité (PASTEF), Ousmane Sonko, a été validée par l’assemblée.
Toutefois, la Section communale a choisi Seydou Mandiang pour diriger la liste des patriotes au cas où le leader du Pastef aurait décliné l’idée de se présenter à la mairie
