Le ministère de l’éducation national lance, ce jeudi 18 mars 2021, le programme de cantines scolaires financé à hauteur de 552 millions de FCFA par le PME et mis en œuvre avec l’appui du Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM). Ce programme vise selon le communiqué du ministère de l’éducation national à participer dans le cadre de son plan de riposte en réponse à l’épidémie de Covid-19 et de lutter contre l’insécurité alimentaire chez les enfants notamment les élèves.
L’objectif est d’après le document de mettre des cantines scolaires dans les écoles publiques des zones rurales et péri-urbaines les plus défavorisées et impactées par la Covid-1.
Une initiative qui rejoint celle du Programme d’appui au développement de l’enseignement au Sénégal financé à 3,8 milliards de FCFA par le PME et délégué à l’Agence française de développement.
Le programme ne concerne pas toutes les régions. Mais le choix repose sur trois indicateurs de vulnérabilité: d’ordre sanitaire, scolaire et alimentaire. Près de 107 000 élèves scolarisés dans 637 écoles élémentaires bénéficient du programme.
« Les écoles sont réparties au sein de 23 Inspections de l’éducation et de la formation (IEF) des régions de Thiès, Diourbel, Kaolack, Saint-Louis, Kolda, Sédhiou et Ziguinchor », mentionne la note.
