L’Assemblée générale de l’ONU, composée des 193 pays membres, a suspendu ce jeudi 7 avril la Russie de son siège au Conseil des droits de l’Homme des Nations unies en raison de l’invasion de l’Ukraine, lors d’un vote qui a recueilli 93 voix favorables et traduit un effritement de l’unité internationale face à Moscou.
Sur les 193 pays membres de l’Assemblée générale, 24 ont voté contre cette suspension – la deuxième de l’histoire de l’ONU après l’éviction de la Libye en 2011 -, initiée par les Etats-Unis. Et 58 pays se sont abstenus, mais les abstentions, un choix dénoncé par Kiev, n’étaient pas prises en compte dans la majorité des deux-tiers requise parmi les seuls votes pour et contre.Le Sénégal figure parmi les abstentionnistes.
