Mike Pompeo En Visite Au Soudan

 Le secrétaire d’État américain Mike Pompeo s’est rendu au Soudan mardi. C’est la première visite en 15 ans d’un chef de la diplomatie américaine. Cette visite s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une tournée régionale visant à convaincre d’autres pays arabes de normaliser leurs relations avec Israël.

Pompeo prévoit de s’entretenir avec le Premier ministre soudanais Abdallah Hamdouq et le président du Conseil souverain, le général Abdel Fattah el-Burhan.

Avec le soutien de Pompeo, le Soudan cherche à être retiré de la liste des sanctions des États-Unis, pour bénéficier d’un allègement de sa dette et attirer les investissements étrangers.

Cependant, la coalition des partis et de la société civile qui a renversé Omar al-Béchir, a affirmé de son coté que le gouvernement n’avait pas de mandat pour normaliser les relations entre le Soudan et Israël.

Le porte-parole du ministère soudanais des Affaires étrangères Haider Badawi, avait créé la surprise le 18 août en reconnaissant implicitement des contacts entre son pays et Israël, il a été révoqué le lendemain par son ministre qui a démenti ses propos.
