Le 22 septembre 2017, El Hadji Abdoul Aziz Sy « Al Amine », tirait sa révérence une nuit du jeudi au vendredi à l’âge de 89 ans. Il était le Khalife général des Tidianes, en remplacement de son frère aîné, Cheikh Ahmet Tidiane Sy. Trois ans après, le Sénégal pleure encore ce rassembleur.

Né en 1928 à Tivaouane, le fils du 1er Khalife de Maodo, Serigne Babacar Sy (rta) et de Sokhna Astou Kane (rta), a fait ses premières classes en même temps que ses frères, Serigne Mansour (Rta) et Serigne Cheikh, auprès de Serigine Alioune Alioune Guèye (rta).

Très tôt, son père Serigne Babacar Sy (ra) l’avait choisi comme son bras droit en charge de l’intendance de Tivaouane. Quand celui-ci fut rappelé à Dieu, Serigne Mansour Sy (rta) «Boroom Daaradji» et Serigne Cheikh Tidiane Sy Al Makhtoum confirmèrent leur frère cadet à ce poste.

Par la suite, Dabakh Malick (rta) l’a officiellement désigné comme porte-parole de la confrérie Tidjane du Sénégal. Après le décès de celui-ci, Serigne Mansour Sy (ra) l’a maintenu à sa fonction. Il faudra toutefois rappeler la complicité qui a existé entre les deux hommes.

Suite au rappel à Dieu (swt) de Serigne Mansour Sy (rta), Mawlaya Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Sy Al Maqtum  a envoyé son frère cadet Serigne Pape Malick Sy accompagné de Maodo Malick Sy et Abdourahmane Sarr Sy (tous les deux  fils de l’actuel Khalife) pour confirmer la gestion de l’intendance de Tivaouane par Mawlaya Abdou Aziz Sy Al Amin At Tidjani.

Ce dernier est l’initiateur du Coskas, «mouvement permanent d’avant-garde de la famille Sy» selon son mot, chargé d’assurer l’organisation physique et financière du Mawlidou Nabie (sas). C’était en 1968, confronté à la révolte des étudiants et des travailleurs, le gouvernement ne pouvait pas envoyer suffisamment d’agents de sécurité à Tivaouane. C’est alors que «Al-Amin» et son ami Ibrahima Samb eurent l’idée de monter une milice composée de 71 personnes. On pourrait affirmer sans risque de se tromper que Serigne Abdou Aziz «Al-Amin» est l’un des principaux facteurs d’unification de la famille de El Hadji Malick Sy (rta) et de l’Islam en général.

Son esprit d’ouverture, son sens des relations humaines, son esprit de citoyenneté et sa perception de la République sont en permanence raffermis par son patriotisme inextricable à l’enseignement islamique. « Khutbul watane, minal imaan », (aimer et croire en son pays est un acte de foi), est le paradigme qui a toujours été son viatique. Médiateur, modérateur, conciliateur et unificateur, il fait de l’unité de la famille de Maodo, de la communauté musulmane et de la Nation la finalité de son action.

Al Amine était également un unificateur, un rassembleur. On se souvient de ces médiations entre l’ancien président Abdoulaye Wade et son ex-premier ministre Idrissa Seck, en 2017. Il avait par ailleurs œuvré pour la libération de Karim Wade auprès du président Macky Sall.
