Un étudiant a été tué par balle, samedi 24 juillet à Kinshasa, par un policier à la suite d’un contrôle qui a mal tourné.
Samedi après-midi, dans le quartier Libération de la commune de Selembao. Un groupe d’étudiants est en plein tournage dans le cadre d’un travail pratique lorsqu’un policier les aborde une première fois, pour leur demander un bakchich, rapporte un témoin oculaire. « On lui a donné 3 000 F et il est parti. Après 15 mn, il est revenu avec ses collègues. Il a commencé à menacer, à arracher le matériel, raconte ce témoin. L’assistant est alors allé négocier mais, à notre grande surprise, il a été arrêté. Lorsque les étudiants ont vu cela, ils ont décidé de réclamer. »
La tension monte. L’un des policiers demande alors aux étudiants de se disperser, mais ceux-ci refusent. « Après le refus, c’est là qu’il y a un policier… Il a commencé à tirer. Il a tiré une balle à bout portant. Il a tiré encore deux balles et l’étudiant est tombé sur place. Là, la population est venue, les policiers se sont enfuis et voilà », raconte encore ce témoin.
Dans un communiqué, la police ne parle pas de tentative de corruption. Selon les forces de l’ordre, les agents auraient en effet simplement voulu contrôler l’autorisation de tournage, mais c’est parce qu’ils n’ont pas pu produire le document que l’assistant a alors été emmené… En colère, les étudiants lancent des projectiles sur les policiers. C’est en voulant tirer une balle de sommation par terre, par imprudence, selon ce communiqué, que l’étudiant est touché au ventre. Le policier est actuellement en fuite, après avoir abandonné son arme et son uniforme.
Ce dimanche matin, le commissaire Sylvano Kasongo Kitenge condamne « avec la dernière énergie cette bavure policière de trop ». Il assure que le policier en fuite sera arrêté pour être présenté devant la justice. Ses collègues et son commandant ont déjà été arrêtés pour déterminer leur possible implication. L’un des policiers est, selon lui, grièvement blessé à la tête, après que la population a incendié le sous commissariat. Il appelle désormais les étudiants au calme.
