Et pour ne rien arranger, la défense sénégalaise prenait souvent le dessus et permettait à Lena Niang d’allumer le moteur à chaque fois qu’elle recevait la balle dans une contre-attaque. Côté guinéen, seule Aicha Diallo Mara a pu sortir les grosses étincelles en attaque pour rattraper un écrasant score de 25-10 au premier quart-temps.
Le deuxième quart-temps s’est montré plus satisfaisant pour la Guinée. Malgré avoir moins scorer qu’au premier quart-temps, les Guinéennes ont réussi à museler quelques attaques d’un Sénégal qui aura très peu marqué sur les premières minutes du deuxième quart-temps. Mais ce devait être que partie remise comme une Couna Ndao et une Lena Niang, qui sortiront une fois de plus les flammes pour éteindre les étincelles de l’adversaire à travers l’attaque avec trois paniers primés consécutifs. Ainsi, le Sénégal irait au repos avec un score de 48-19 en faveur.
Après la pause, la Guinée se montre beaucoup moins brillante. Au même moment, les Lionnes sont chaudes et bouillantes et quand elles visaient l’attaque, elles étaient inarrêtables. Plus que la partie avance, plus le Sénégal monte en puissance, malgré le notable excès de confiance, et moins la Guinée trouve de meilleures ressources. Logiquement, au bout de cinq minutes dans le troisième quart-temps, la formation de Moustapha Gaye aura scorer 16 points alors que son adversaire ne réussira que deux petits points. Sept points au total au troisième quart-temps pour la Guinée. Et le tableau de marquage brille avec un symbolique score de 71-27 pour le Sénégal.
Au quatrième et dernier quart-temps, on craignait fort que la Guinée souhaitait ou pouvait réduire l’hémorragie. En tout cas, le début de ses dernières minutes semblait prouver le contraire. Puisqu’après cinq minutes, aucune guinéenne n’était parvenue à marquer. La superbe présence des pivotes sénégalais ralentissaient toutes les attaques guinéennes. En même temps, le Sénégal et Yacine Diop voire encore la capitaine Mame Marie Sy se montraient intraitables au panier. D’où la séquence de 21-0.
Détruites, les Guinéennes n’ont qu’un seul objectif peut-être : éviter la barre des 100 points pour le Sénégal. Mais là, c’était vraiment sans compter sur Sokhna Fatou Dia Sylla et Ndeye Fatou Ndiaye. La première qui claque un panier primé, juste après que la Guinée ait enfin parvenu à marquer dans le quatrième quart-temps, et la deuxième un superbe contre pour ses cinq points dans la partie. Après un petit arrêt de jeu au niveau de l’arbitrage et à quelques secondes de la fin, le Sénégal atteint enfin la barre symbolique des 100 points. Score finale : 100-31.
Du coup, le Sénégal porte le premier gros coup sur la table dans cette 25e édition du Championnat d’Afrique féminin de basket-ball face à un adversaire jugé beaucoup plus huppé que le prochain. Les Lionnes effectueront leur deuxième sortie lundi prochain face à l’Egypte.
