Le Sénégalais Edouard Mendy et Chelsea ont été couronnés en finale de la Ligue des Champions de l’UEFA, samedi à Porto, grâce à une victoire de 1 à 0 contre Manchester City.
À 29 ans et dans une carrière atypique d’un footballeur, Edouard Mendy est devenu le troisième joueur sénégalais après Safif Diao et Sadio Mané avec Liverpool à soulever ce précieux trophée, l’un des plus convoités au monde.
Edouard Mendy et ses coéquipiers ont su freiner l’armada offensive de l’équipe entrainée par Pep Guardiola. Evidemment, l’ancien du Stade de Reims, du Stade Rennais … en Ligue 1 française était titulaire ce soir à l’ Estádio do Dragão.
