Il fut un temps où Thiès était le symbole de la résistance et de l’exigence patriotique.

Cette ville qui m’a vu grandir, où j’ai eu la chance de faire toutes mes classes à l’école primaire puis au lycée Malick Sy, a façonné mon engagement et a fait de moi l’homme que je suis aujourd’hui.

C’est à Thiès que j’ai participé à mes toutes premières luttes syndicales, et c’est ici que j’ai fait ma formation ainsi que mes premiers pas en politique.

Cette idée noble que j’ai de la politique, je la dois à mon parcours de résistance auprès de nos aînés du PAI, du RND, de AND-JËF, de la LD, du PIT. Je n’ai jamais rompu le cordon ombilical avec Thiès. À chaque rue, me lie des souvenirs, heureux ou malheureux. Bien des maisons, bien des visages me sont familiers.

Mais aujourd’hui, nous sommes nombreux à faire le même constat : Thiès n’est plus sur la bonne trajectoire. Notre ville est complètement déconsidérée. Le clan politique, aux commandes de la ville, s’est particulièrement distingué par sa rapacité et son incapacité à tenir ses promesses. Lorsque Idrissa Seck et Macky Sall ont scellé leur pacte politique, c’est toute une ville qui s’est sentie trahie face à tant d’incompréhension devant ceux qui marchandent leur dignité pour des postes. Rien ne leur est interdit, il n’y a pas de limites à leurs agissements et à leur morale à géométrie variable. Ces spéculateurs confiants et arrogants ont même l’audace de vouloir devenir ou redevenir maires.

Nous devons résister face à la déliquescence du monde politique thiessois, ce désastre qui dure depuis 15 années maintenant.

15 ans de spoliation foncière qui devient une véritable épidémie.

15 ans d’incompétence de la classe dirigeante de la ville et l’absence de perspectives économiques et sociales.

15 années d’offenses à notre ordre moral et politique.

15 années de gangrène de l’argent facile, et de corruption institutionnelle encouragée par l’impunité consacrée à tous ceux qui – soi-disant – militent du “bon côté”, celui de BBY et du Rewmi.

15 ans que cette ville, cité d’artistes et d’art populaire, devient chaque jour un peu plus une ville triste et fanée, sans le moindre événement culturel majeur.

15 ans de dégradation impardonnable du cadre de vie, infligée à une ville autrefois verte.

En tant que fils de la ville, il est de mon devoir de prouver que cette idée péjorative du prétendu « Nitu Thiès », capable de trahir ses serments et de se renier au gré des circonstances, doit être jetée aux orties.

Je souhaite donc, mettre au service de mes frères et sœurs de la cité du rail, toute l’expérience, les compétences, et le savoir-faire dont nous disposons, afin de définitivement tourner la page de ces 15 années de déliquescence économique, sociale, environnementale et culturelle.

Je souhaite que les Thiessois m’accordent leur confiance en nous donnant la mission de restaurer la ville et ses trois communes, afin de porter les ambitions des Thiessois, redresser les finances et rendre à la ville son lustre d’antan.

Je reste persuadé que nos maires ont un rôle déterminant à jouer. Il nous faut plus d’audace, de compétence, de créativité, d’implication, d’influence, mais surtout de probité aux personnes qui dirigent.
