Elon Musk prend une participation importante dans Twitter, l’action du réseau social s’envole à Wall Street

witter voyait son action décoller de près de 25% lundi dans les échanges électroniques précédant l’ouverture de Wall Street, après une importante prise de participation du patron de Tesla dans le réseau social. 
 
Selon un document déposé auprès du régulateur boursier américain, la SEC, M. Musk, qui est l’homme le plus riche de la planète, a acquis près de 73,5 millions d’actions ordinaires de Twitter, soit 9,2% de la valeur en Bourse de l’entreprise.
 
En se basant sur le prix de clôture de vendredi de l’action de l’entreprise, l’investissement du milliardaire d’origine sud-africaine s’élève à près de 2,9 milliards de dollars.
 
À 10H45 GMT, le titre de Twitter s’échangeait à 48,75 dollars (+24,01%).
 
M. Musk s’exprime très fréquemment sur ce réseau social, où il compte un peu plus de 80 millions d’abonnés.
 
Des tweets polémiques
Ses annonces sur Twitter suscitent fréquemment des polémiques.
 
À l’été 2018, il avait notamment publié un tweet où il assurait disposer des financements appropriés pour retirer Tesla de la Bourse new-yorkaise, sans en apporter la preuve.
 
Après un nouveau tweet malencontreux début 2019, il avait accepté que ses messages directement liés à l’activité du fabricant de véhicules électriques soient pré-approuvés par la SEC.
 
Le dirigeant avait également abandonné son poste de président du conseil d’administration de Tesla.
 
Début mars, M. Musk a toutefois demandé à un juge de New York d’annuler l’accord passé avec le gendarme boursier sur ses tweets, affirmant par la voie de son avocat que la SEC cherche à « harceler Tesla et à réduire au silence M. Musk ».
