Car une langue est avant tout un outil de savoir. De ce fait, la maîtriser, surtout s’il s’agit d’une des plus parlées dans le monde, permet de renforcer sa compétitivité dans un monde de plus en plus globalisé, dont la matérialisation en village planétaire n’est plus un rêve, mais une réalité. Que ce soit le français, l’anglais ou tout autre langue, chaque Etat doit y mettre les moyens pour armer son peuple. Ce n’est pas pour rien aujourd’hui que dans les grandes universités françaises, l’anglais est priorisé, comme dans les universités américaines où le français est de plus en plus enseigné. La maîtrise d’une langue n’est jamais un mal, contrairement à ce que veulent nous faire comprendre certains combattants d’un panafricanisme utopique. Elle est un atout, que tout soucieux des enjeux actuels doit soutenir et promouvoir. Chercher à bannir une langue, c’est choisir d’inhiber l’effort intellectuel dans un processus d’acquisition de savoir. Nous devons nous emparer de nos langues maternelles. Mais nous devons le faire avec intelligence, efficacité et objectivité. Une telle ambition ne peut pas se réaliser dans la défiance émotionnelle de l’ancien colonisateur. N’en faisons pas un jeu de bisounours.
L’ère du Peter pan africain, fraîchement sorti du colonialisme, est révolue.
Ce à quoi nous devons réfléchir, c’est comment insérer et adapter nos langues maternelles dans le cycle de formation des jeunes.
Surtout, là, elles pourront mieux les préparer aux attentes à l’échelle nationale et internationale.
